GOP 2012 Convention Delegate Selection Process

All persons who are registered as a Republican in the Virgin Island are eligible to run for the position of delegate or alternate delegate and participate in the selection of the GOP presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention in Tampa Florida during last week of August 2012. By the party caucus method Virgin Islanders will choose delegates on Saturday, March 10, 2012 who may run under  a particular national candidate as a pledged supporter or run as non-committed.

Since the VI Territorial Committee has chosen the March window any delegate elected as committed is expected to cast a vote for his or her candidate at the convention unless the candidate releases their votes prior to the nomination process.  The members of the GOP Territorial Committee felt an early caucus date would afford the Virgin Islands an opportunity to make a difference in the outcome of the  selection of our candidate and ultimately our next U.S. President
